So today was the field trip for my geology class
Here is the bubbling tar pit again only this time my Prof. is lighting it. Pretty Awesome Stuff. Should have been there ok so it smelled a little bit but a little stinch never hurt anyone. Hahaha
Yet again the bubbling tar pit being lit just cause I think its cool to see so make sure you watch it.
Two of our braver classmates who did an experiment to test if in fact this was Diatomite, which it was by the way and they knew this because it stuck to their tougue.
This whole pic is just of tar. In this pit men would go down naked and pull buckets of this up at a time. Horrible job to have to do. They would go down naked because if they did not the tar would get all over their clothes so they took them off. When they were done for the day they would wash in kerosene to clean the tar off of them. Poor Guys
2nd Part of The Trip
So the next place we go is to on of our classmates ranch to go fossil hunting, which was not very hard because if you opened your eyes you would see them jumping out at you. We found several oyster and clam shell fossils. Which to my amazement could be very, very big.
This was not even a third of the people that went on this trip. See our Professor must make it pretty damn interesting to get all these people to come.
Marci holding up her fossils that she collected. Say Cheese!
This s a huge fossil of a pectoral shell that their was no way that it was coming out with out bringing the whole mountain with it. Although you would be suprised some people tried.
This pectoral shell fossil had both sides to it and was the size of my palm.
Painted Rock in Corizo Plains (3rd and Final leg of the trip)
As one my classmates pointed out we did not know there was not a wedding on the itenerary.

See Soda Lake in the backgroud. It covered in Salt.
These are two cinder cones. Look at the difference in size, the little one is so cute.
So you know the old saying why did the chicken cross the road. Well I have a better question. Why did the tarantula cross the road? HAHAHAHAHA
